What does oversee mean?

I know what you’re thinking, we’ve all sat in traffic and watched a foreman “oversee” a road improvement project while one guy works himself to the bone with a shovel when there’s an excavator 10 feet away that would clearly do the job faster.

But that’s not me, I don’t work in construction.

I develop, create, and maintain brand standards for each brand under my purview.

Each one of the above 22 brands has a brand standards guide loaded with information about brand positioning, strategy, and creative application. This way our digital, social, catalog, product development, photography, videography, and merchandisers can effectively do their jobs while maintaining brand integrity.

I work directly with senior leadership, vendor partners, and manufacturers.

Whether it’s a new product launch, marketing strategy, sales campaign, or Johnny Morris decides to throw massive event like the 2022 World’s Fishing Fair with less than 6 weeks to execute the creative, I’m there to ensure that our brands are properly represented.

I provide creative direction across departments and with our external agencies.

There’s a lot of creative work that comes out of a company the size of Bass Pro Shops. If it weren’t for the numerous talented individuals I work with, there’s no way it would all get done. So I do everything I can to make sure that they are receiving the information and direction they need to ensure we create quality work for each brand.

I collaborate with the marketing department to develop sales campaigns and brand strategies.

What are the goals of the business, how are we going to achieve them, and what will it look like are the primary questions I am to answer on a daily basis. In addition to the brand standards, I create styleguides to drive the direction of each of our sales campaigns and events.
